A PROPOSED ALGORITHM FOR GEOID DETERMINATION IN SAUDI ARABIA USING GPS MEASUREMENTS

ABSTRACT

 

GPS derived ellipsoidal heights, at points of known orthometric heights, were used for the determination of the geoid in Saudi Arabia. The technique of least-squares collocation is applied for the derivation of the thought optimal geoidal surface. The derived geoid can then be used for a multitude of beneficial applications. For instance, the determination of orthometric heights, directly without leveling, from GPS measurements.
